• Ask for help with new or ongoing medical problems, including urgent ones
• Ask an administrative question
We will respond quickly, usually within 2 hours, but this may take longer if we are exceptionally busy.
Please look out for either a reply message in your Engage Consult account, a telephone call (ensure your phone has service), or a text message. It is your responsibility to attend the surgery if given an appointment.
We use the information you provide in your request to:
- Give you access to assessment and treatment for urgent medical problems
- Give you an appointment with a GP or other clinician for ongoing, more complex or specific problems
- Give you advice and treatment online if it’s more straightforward
- Direct you to a more appropriate service for your needs
- Respond to your administrative queries
Before contacting us, check that you are asking for help at the right place. Please use our handy Who do I see? guide to see who best to turn to.
Please give us accurate information when you contact us. Please do not be tempted to exaggerate your symptoms thinking that this will secure you priority care – this simply causes confusion and may result in you being given inappropriate care and advice (for example being advised to attend A&E or call 999).
If you are a Parent or Carer and wish to ask on behalf of a child, relative or other patient, please read this first
You must have a legitimate right to consult on their behalf.
- Set up an Engage Consult account in your own name first (you do not need to be one of our patients).
- When you start a new Medical or Administrative Request for help, you will be asked if this request is about yourself. Select ‘No.’
- You will then be able to add the patient you wish to ask for help with to your account.
- Engage Consult will keep a list of patients you have added to your account so when you ask for help again in the future, you simply need to choose their name when asked.
You can add multiple patients (such as all of your children) to your account. Further information is available on the Engage Consult ‘how to’ page linked below.
Neither General Practice nor Engage Consult are Emergency Services. We also cannot assess and treat Minor Injuries. If it’s an emergency you should call 999 or go to A&E now. If it’s a minor injury you should call 111 to access the Minor Injury Unit service at Dr Gray’s Hospital. There is no Minor Injury Unit or Emergency Services at Forres Health and Care Centre. Engage Consult is open for new requests from 7 am until 5 pm on the days we are open
You can still log into your account to see reply messages or setup an account outside of these hours. We turn off the ability to submit requests outside our opening hours for several reasons but primarily to ensure patients seek appropriate help when we are closed. If you need help before the service reopens, please use the self-help advice at NHS Inform or call NHS 24 on 111. For emergencies, go to A&E or dial 999.
IMPORTANT: We are a Two Practice site. Please make sure that you enter the correct Practice’s Engage Consult service
