Conjunctivitis

Who do I see?

Community Pharmacy / Optician / Contact us if under 2 years old

Advice:

Advice and treatment (including antibiotics if appropriate) are available from your local community pharmacy without a prescription.

In our area, opticians provide comprehensive advice and treatment about medical eye problems such as conjunctivitis that is not settling with pharmacy advice and treatment free of charge under the NHS Grampian Eye Health Care & Opticians service. Please tell the optician reception about your problem, the treatments tried from the chemist and that you are looking for a ‘medical eye appointment.’

In a case of suspected conjunctivitis in a child under the age of 2, please submit an online medical consultation request for the Urgent Medical Problem Team giving us as much information about your problem as you can. You will get a same-day response usually by telephone or a time to attend the surgery for further assessment and examination.

Further information about conjunctivitis is available at NHS Inform.

If you cannot use the online service please call us on 0345 337 1120 and a member of the care navigation team will help you.
